This week has been one of our busiest weeks this summer. My son has had tennis camp every morning, and our church has Vacation Bible School every evening. It has been crazy, but oh so fun.
Our Vacation Bible School was space-themed this year. We have a huge rocket ship made out of cardboard and a wall with all the planets on it as the main attractions. The kids are loving it!
On Monday, I had the chance to meet another Jan from Laughter and Consistency. She is a great blogger who I have gotten to know online, and I know can say she is my real life friend too. I will admit I was nervous, but we had a great time together.
We hung out at the beach while our kids played. She currently is offering a free Math and Literacy Activity set on her blog to celebrate her 2 year anniversary of blogging. Make sure you stop by and grab it!
I have been working hard this week on back to school prep. We start again on August 28th. Even though that is over a month away, I am starting to feel that push to get things ready. It probably doesn't help that I am changing grades again. I am going back to teaching upper elementary this year!
I have been planning and prepping math interactive notebook pieces to use with my 5th grade this year. I plan on sharing some of what I have worked on and created with you over the next few months. If you have a specific concept or skill that you would like interactive notebook pieces for, feel free to leave me a note in the comments or drop me an email.
I have also been thinking about what my upper elementary students will be focusing on early in the school year. Our grammar curriculum usually starts out with a unit on nouns. I decided to make a set of task cards that will help me identify students that need more help in this area.
I'm planning on using my Noun Search Task Cards as a fun assessment towards the end of our noun unit. It will be an easy way to pinpoint students who are still struggling with this concept.
I'm definitely not spending my whole summer working though. We have been spending plenty of time having fun including several trips to the beach. To help you celebrate summer, several teachers (and myself) have teamed up to give away a Summer Survival Bag.
This super cute 31 bag is the perfect size for family trips to the pool or the beach. It can easily fit all of your towels, sunscreen, snacks, and maybe even some pool toys. Not only are we giving you an amazing bag, but we are also including a cute towel, a pair of flip-flops, sunscreen, and a travel cup - everything you need for a day at the beach.
