Currently April 2016

I think Farley's Currently link up has to be one of my favorite link ups. I love getting a peek into the lives of other teachers. It's like Instagram on a slightly larger scale! (By the way, if you want to connect with me on Instagram, my name is crystalclearteaching.)

So here is what I have on my mind on this second day of April:

It has been raining all day today. I love the sound of rain when I am cozy inside. I did manage to make our weekly library trip this morning even though I did NOT want to leave my house. Believe it or not, we are supposed to get snow Sunday and Monday. In April! I am not looking forward to that.
Also does anyone else have a child that seems to have to make noise constantly? My son is never ever quiet. Good thing I love him so much! And since I hate doing laundry, I am definitely thankful that he can put away his own clothes now.  I'm pretty sure I will never stop being grateful for that.

I have a huge to do list - things for school, TpT stuff, blog ideas I need to get posted, spring cleaning that needs to be finished. The list goes on and on. I keep waiting for Spring Break to arrive so that I can get some tasks crossed off, but it seems to be so far away. Only two more weeks to go! One of those big tasks is to pack up all of our winter stuff (boots, gloves, coats, etc.) and put it in the attic. If the forecast didn't keep calling for snow, we could get this done a little sooner. Hopefully by Spring Break the threat of snow will be over for good for this year!

On another note, we start our standardized testing this week. Thankfully we don't have as much testing as some schools do. In our older grades, we complete the entire test in two days because they just test all day long. It makes for a long two days, but at least it gets done quickly. I have decided this year with my first graders to do a little bit each morning of the week (probably between 1 1/2 - 2 hours each day).  When we did the practice test, my kiddos got really burned out and slightly discouraged after just the practice. So I have decided to spread it out more than normal for them. I am also planning on giving them some cute testing treats each morning before we start. I bought some adorable notes from Oh So Blessed to match with fruit each morning for a healthy treat. (I actually saw them on her IG feed and knew I had to have them!)

Aren't they adorable?

  1. We haven't had any rain yet this year, but I would love some. I hope your Spring Break arrives quickly. It sure seems like a late break. And wish good luck to your kiddos for me on their testing. I love your treat ideas.

  2. Hey, love those motivational snack notes you bought & added to fruit for your firsties! I am in awe to find out your firsties are required to take 2-whole days worth of testing at the end of the year. I am glad that's behind me, we just finished our 3 days worth of testing in 4th grade last week! You're kiddoz will survive & be inspired to do better with your pep talk/snacks!
    Best Wishes! Antonia @ forkin4th

  3. I hope those two weeks go by quickly. Love your testing treats!
